This is very popular with my 4-month old kitten. At first he was a bit standoffish, but then he jumps on it fully and spends many minutes in a “”deadly battle”” as he bites and kicks at this fish. It is a bit loud and mechanical, but that doesn’t seem to discourage play.It is nice that it is rechargeable and turns off after a period of inactivity. We take the fish up and only use it a few times a week to keep it interesting for our kitten.The included catnip and sachet was a nice idea, but it didn’t seem to engage our kitten that much more. I think the reaction to catnip can be very individual and influenced by age, so your experience may differ.

This cat toy consists of a soft fish with a movable tale and a fishing pole type of wand to attach it to. The on/off switch for the toy can be found inside the fish. This toy also comes with a small bag of catnip and fabric pouch. The catnip goes into the pouch and the pouch fits inside the fish. It was easy to fill the fabric bag and easy to insert it inside the fish. A great feature of the toy is that it comes with rechargeable batteries and a USB cord to charge it. It didn take long to charge and it was ready to use and held a charge for several days.At first I tried just placing the fish on the floor, but my cat didn really like that. Once I attached it to the ‚fishing pole that comes with it, he was much more interested. He usually likes wand toys and this one is like one of those, but with a little extra since the tail of the fish flips around on its own. I wish the pole was a little longer and the fish a little smaller and lighter. He likes catnip toys, so he was more interested in the fish after I inserted the catnip, but I think the large size and the noise the fish makes was a little too much for him and he isn usually timid. It would have been easier for me to maneuver the fish if the pole had been longer, and I think my cat would have enjoyed the toy more if it had been smaller.

Ontel Flippity Fish Cat ToyEven though this is advertised for cats, my ten-pound dachshund completely adores this toy. She is almost 15 and can’t “”hunt”” like she used to so this toy has really brightened her day. My dog is missing quite a few teeth, so I feel comfortable letting her play with this while attended. I don’t think this toy is very durable though, but it will give many hours of enjoyment. It does take a minute for the fish to start up once activated.It measures about 10 inches long and about 3 inches wide. There is a plastic control inside a zippered compartment in the stomach of the fish. It is a soft microfiber fabric that is easy to sponge clean. It also comes with a fishing pole for dangling it above your pet. It comes with a small pouch and catnip, but I didn’t use that feature. You can also recharge this through a USB where the on-off switch is. I have just been switching it on and off when I am around the dog so she can play with it.
